"Jazz to every family!"

He was born in 1988 in Liberec, where he graduated from the FX Šalda Grammar School and also in Informatics and Logistics at the Faculty of Mechatronics, Informatics and Interdisciplinary Studies at the Technical University. Simultaneously with his studies at the university, he studied composition at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory and Secondary School in Prague under the guidance of prof. Karel Růžička. Here he also devoted himself to jazz piano and trombone.

In 2013 he entered the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno to study piano jazz interpretation with Vít Křišťan and Ľuboš Šrámek and composition with Matúš Jakabčice.

He received his basic musical education at ZUŠ Liberec and ZUŠ Jabloňová in Liberec, where he studied piano with Dana Krouská and trombone with Jarmil Kabeláč. Probably the greatest influence on his musical career was his work in the Big Band of ZUŠ Liberec under the direction of Liberec jazz guru Rudolf Mihulka.

He works as a pianist in his bands BitMaP Trio, PHS Jazz Quartet and Augustin Bernard Nonet. He also plays in the Vladimír Janský Dance Orchestra, OVJ Dixie Liberec and others.

He collaborates on compositions and arrangements with various Czech performers (Petr Sovič, Jan Smigmator, Ilona Csáková, Karel Gott) and mainly participates in the creation of the YouTube channel "Steve and Maggie" and records songs for teaching English to children "Wow! English ”from Wattsenglish.

He currently teaches piano at ZUŠ Liberec, where he also leads the Big Band and Jazz.

 

Musical achievements:

2010 - national round of the ZUŠ ensemble competition, Litvínov - jury award for jazz composition for the big band "Timothy T. Deptudah"

2012 - Czech Jazz Contest, Jazz Club Reduta Prague - With Gust, 3rd place

2012 - Jazz Prix, Prachatice - With Gust, 2nd place

2015 - OSA competition for the best jazz composition of the year - Augustin Bernard Nonet - "Waltz for Rose" (Waltz for Rose)

2015 - International Joseph Dorfman Composition Competition, Ochsenhausen, Germany - Piano Trio "As I Am", 3rd place

2016 - Karel Krautgartner Competition - "Nocturne for Jazz Orchestra"

2016 - International Joseph Dorfman Composition Competition, Ochsenhausen, Germany - Trio for viola, piano and percussion, 1st place

2018 - Karel Krautgartner Competition - "Waltz for Rose"
